NEW! Introduction to Metal Clay (16 and up)

Metal Clay is an exciting medium that begins as a suspension of tiny particles of silver in an organic clay binder. This course enables students with little or no jewelry making experience to begin producing fine silver jewelry on their own. Learn the skills necessary to form, fire and finish PMC, producing earrings or a pendant.

Ceramics Studio: Handbuilding & Wheel Throwing (all levels)

This course will cover basic handbuilding and wheel throwing skills.  Let’s discover what method is most suited to create the work that best pleases your aesthetic sensibility.  Both wheel throwing and handbuilding demonstrations will be given. There will be one-on-one attention for those of you pursuing a more advanced agenda.  This will be an engaging experience for beginning and beyond artists looking to work in ceramics.

Handbuilding & Sculpture (int. / adv.)

A creative approach to the art of pottery.  Discover new techniques while learning the basics of handbuilding and tilemaking.  Explore coil, pinch and slab methods and use of the extruder.  The emphasis is on developing individual projects and styles.  Projects explore working in a series, glaze experimentation and surface design techniques.

Pathways Into Abstraction

John Rosis    $190/seniors $180

This class incorporates drawing, painting, gel plate printmaking and collage to engage participants of all levels in a practical and hands-on approach to abstraction. Sessions include demonstrations of techniques, basic theories of abstraction, group discussions, examples of artists’ work and individual instruction. Participants can work on paper, canvas, wood panels and other surfaces. This class is best suited to using water-based paints, such as acrylic paint and drawing media such as markers and oil and wax crayons. The materials list will be sent upon registration and reviewed in the first class for those needing guidance.

Learn the Venetian art of glass bead making.  Make unique beads by melting glass rods with an oxygen/propane torch.  Learn to shape the glass and decorate it to customize your beads. It’s addictive!

Teen Wheel Throwing (ages 13-17)

An on-site course focusing on the basics of wheel throwing. Various aspects of clay properties, glazing and design are explored. For beginning and intermediate students. Basic handbuilding will be covered. Class enrollment limited to 6 students. Materials and firing fees included.
