YAMS is more than just a show—it’s a celebration of Black excellence, live narrative, and communal creativity. Join us for two unforgettable nights of music, dance, visual art, and food that will feed both body and soul.
Headlining the night is the genre-bending artist Gumpy, whose voice and storytelling defy convention, alongside powerhouse vocalist Brianna Forbes, known for her emotionally raw and radiant performances. Together, they set the stage for a bold, live music experience.
Their work is interwoven with the dynamic movement of Emotions Physical Theatre, a contemporary dance company celebrated for fusing choreography with deep personal storytelling. The result? A performance that doesn’t just entertain—it moves you.
Before the concert, arrive early to experience a pre-show visual art gallery, featuring the work of an acclaimed guest artist. Original art will be for sale, with stories behind the pieces available to explore.
And because no summer gathering is complete without food, we’ll also be serving up a backyard-style barbecue before the show, bringing community together over conversation, creativity, and shared joy.
Brianna Del-Marie Forbes is a music artist, singer/songwriter, curator, producer, dancer, and poet. Born in New York and raised in Dallas, Georgia, Del-Marie Forbes draws inspiration from her late mother playing 90s RNB while cleaning, growing up in a southern church choir , her Jamaican heritage, 70s soul that she discovered at 18, and more. She has placed in multiple monthly poetry slams and considers poetry her “therapy before her therapy”. She finds herself performing at open mics in NYC and Rockland County, including Studio 101. She now hosts wellness events for artists of every medium. She’s had her first feature show in Brooklyn at One Love One Mic September 2023, performed at Piano’s, Pink Frog Cafe, and performed at the Delancey with her fellow bandmates called WAVE by WAVE. She is now an honors student at Rockland Community College. She is also a former mentee for the Arts Council Of Rockland Mentorship Program. Del-Marie hopes to continue to network and become well known in the industry: whether it’s through music, songwriting, poetry, or dance.
Gumpy is a hip-hop artist with influences spanning the genre's finest. Gumpy creates a sonic journey like no other with his storytelling prowess, the innovative sounds, introspective depth, and lyrical gift. Born and raised in Maryland, Gumpy developed an early passion for music from his family and other artists, using the art of poetry to convey personal experiences and societal commentary through music. Gumpy stands to leave a mark on the world of hip-hop, continuing the legacy of his musical influences such as Kendrick Lamar, Andre 3000, and Mos Def; while forging a path of his own.
