The Spirit House is my interpretation of the spirit tablet which sits on a Chinese family altar.
Similar to a tablet, part of the soul of a departed one resides in a dedicated Spirit House and can be asked for blessings or advice.
In this way loved ones are remembered and remain part of our daily life.--Jennie Chien
Jennie Chien is a sculptor, inspired by archetypal images and symbols. She works primarily in ceramics but also in metal. Winner of three NYFA SOS Grants, the 2009 County Executive Award for Visual Artist, and the 2009 NYSCA Individual Artist Grant. Jennie has served on many Rockland County committees and panels. She has more than 25 awards for graphic design excellence and an MBA from Stanford University.
