NEW! Painting in Oil and Channeling Turner (int./adv.)

Karen Edelmann   $140/$135 senior

This class is for advanced and intermediate painters, with previous sky/landscape experience to jump start a new approach.

William Henry Mallord Turner was an early 19th century painter whose dreamy, mystical and luminous land and seascapes were way ahead of his time. His treatment of light and the drama of his sunsets and sunrises provide a primer and guide for the contemporary painter.

During our 3 afternoons in the studio we’ll look at Turner’s work, and try to emulate, in our own paintings, the drama, color and movement he created with a seemingly loose and free approach.

Materials: Bring your traditional supplies from earlier classes, especially the palette knives, but also include soft rags, and a selection of *alternate primaries (different than your usual red, yellow and blue). Three canvases, prepared with a coral background as usual.

F27 3 sessions:

Fri. Nov. 10 1:00-4:00pm

Sun. Nov. 12 1:00-4:00pm
Fri. Nov. 17 1:00-4:00pm
