Becoming a Colorist: Seascapes  Karen Edelmann $220
"Colour and I are one. I am a painter." Paul Klee, 1914.
Color applied or withheld, color used to describe or to camouflage, color intense
or subdued—artists have always had a love affair with color. The goal of this series of three, two day, workshops is to offer new ways of thinking about it, understanding it and discovering how imaginative color choices can enhance and invigorate your work.
Karen Edelmann is a color-centric painter. See her work at KWEdelmann.com or follow her on Instagram at k.williams.edelmann and Facebook at Karen Williams Edelmann.
This two-day workshop will look at traditional colors in seascapes then show how non-traditional color choices can create paintings that more powerfully convey the drama and mood of sea and sky.  Day one will select a reference, prepare the surface, expreiment with various color palettes and rough in the subject.  Day two will develop the painting by layering, working with palette knives and various brushes.  Traditional or water-based oil paint is recommended.  References will be supplied and a materials list will be sent upon registration.
Registration begins Friday, November 16, 2018 at 9:00 am.
