Drawing for Everyone
A beginning course in basic drawing for the apprehensive but eager would-be-artist. Fundamental skills in perception and ways of translating what you see onto paper will be stressed in a relaxed atmosphere. Classes will familiarize the student with the use of line to create space in two dimensions, contour drawing, composition, shading, perspective and individual expression. Students will work primarily from still life compositions and will work two sessions with a live model. Exercises will focus on helping the individual overcome fears and get results. A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Painting & Drawing (all levels)
For the beginner or for those who want opportunities for growth, this course explores the fundamentals of drawing and painting. A wide variety of subjects, textures and lighting effects will be used to enhance perceptions and skills. Problems in color and composition will also be presented through set-ups with flowers, still life set-ups and costumed models. Painters using all media, at all levels, are welcome. A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Drawing in Color (all levels)
Colored pencils are a rich, flexible medium. This class provides an exciting and innovative environment for the exploration of non-toxic, water-soluble colored pencils. The fundamentals and technical aspects of rendering in color will be explained. We will investigate line, color and space through interactive group-oriented and individual drawing exercises designed for expressions, not frustration. Emphasis is placed on developing your application of this medium. This class is designed for all levels of experience and proficiency. Beginners welcome. Join us! Drawing the Human Figure (all levels)
A relaxed way to get started drawing the figure. Using time-tested techniques, students will develop skills for making objects look three-dimensional on a flat piece of paper. Then they will begin to apply the technique to drawing nudes and portraits. There will be class demonstrations, individual assistance, and discussions of different media and what works best for you. Subjects will include portrait, drapery and the figure. All levels welcome. A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Watercolor Painting (all levels)
Learn to paint using the freshness and transparency of watercolor! The emphasis is on the development of a personal style, with basic techniques and brushwork as an integral part of the class. Demonstrations with individual assistance and critiques are done on an on-going basis. All levels welcome. This course has a structured curriculum for beginners and 'as needed' assistance for advanced students. A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Watercolor from Life! (all levels)
Watercolor painting is a direct and spontaneous medium that need not be difficult or unforgiving. Students will work on color, composition, and expression, exploring still life, portraits and landscapes. Subjects change each and this semester the class will focus on the portrait. All levels welcome. Beginners and advanced students are taught according to individual needs.

Oil Painting (all levels)

Learn the fundamentals of traditional oil painting in a fun, energetic class setting.  The focus of this class will be painting the figure from life.  Learn to draw with oil paint to capture the energy and movement of the figure on canvas. Composition, light and shade, and tonal development will be taught as the foundation for oil painting.  Emphasis will be on the creative process.  Demonstrations, individual critiques, and discussion of materials will be incorporated.  A materials list will be sent upon registration.

Stone Carving (all levels)
This intensive workshop introduces students to basic techniques of stone carving. Emphasis will be on the use of hand tools, however, students will also be exposed to the use of electric and pneumatic tools. This ancient art will come alive as students begin their own carvings and are taught how to visualize their ideas in marble through a reductive approach. Students will be required to bring their own tools. All levels welcome. A materials/tools list will be sent upon registration.

Botanical Watercolor
Learn the wonders of watercolor when inspired by the beauty of nature. Learn to use both washes and dry brush techniques to create leaves, berries, flowers and other everyday items that we find outside our windows. Life Drawing Workshop-Open Sessions
Do you need practice or want time every week to draw on your own? In this workshop, students work independently without instruction. First part of class is short poses; the last part of class is long poses. Model's fee included in price. Per Diem students will be accepted after minimum enrollment is met. All levels and media welcome.

The Clothed Figure - Drawing Workshop
In this workshop, students draw or paint from the clothed model independently without an instructor. Bring any media you like. Models are scheduled for 2 sessions in a row, when possible, so you have time to complete a piece. Per diem students will be accepted after minimum enrollment is met. All levels and media welcome.

Inspired by Puccini's "La Boheme" this 6-hour uninstructed tableau presents the unique opportunity to paint, draw or sculpt three models in a dramatic setting. Photography is permitted only with consent of models.
