Don Nace's comic
& insightful line drawn observations had their beginnings
on the F train between West 4th Street and 53rd.
"I had been in New
York City only a short time but my savings were gone
and the body of artwork that I had brought with me
from New Mexico provided no income. I had found a
job and began sketching on my daily commute on the
F train.
I was merely letting
my nervous hand scratch at the paper, for no other
reason perhaps than the urge to make marks, like some
archaeologist digging for signs of civilization. Eventually,
once I was relaxed enough by the random marks, a line
or a gesture would trigger some recognition and a
figure would pop out." - Don Nace
Don Nace was born
in New Mexico just after WWII, graduated with a BFA
from University of Iowa in 1969. His drawings have
appeared in the movies: "Fatal Attraction", "Sleepers"
and "Beloved". Nace is a scenic artist in film and

"Antaeus" Ecco Press 1982, a 36 page series of narrative
