In recognition of our LGTBQ+ identifying campers and staff members, all staff will have their pronouns listed on their nametags this summer, and campers will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves using their pronouns (i.e., he/she/they).

Anti-bullying Policy
Bullying is when one or more people exclude, tease, taunt, gossip, hit, kick, or put down another person with the intent to hurt another. Bullying happens when a person or group of people want to have power over another and use their power to get their way, at the expense of someone else. Bullying can also happen through cyberspace: through the use of emails, text messaging, instant messaging, and other less direct methods. This type of bullying can also lead to persons being hurt during or between the camp seasons and be especially hurtful when persons are targeted with meanness and exclusion.

At Arts Camp @ RoCA, bullying is inexcusable, and we have a firm policy against all types of bullying. Our Camp philosophy is based on our mission statement which ensures that every camper has the opportunity to develop as an artist and express themselves creatively in a non-competitive environment. We work together as a team to ensure that campers gain self-confidence, make new friends, and go home with great memories.

Unfortunately, persons who are bullied may not have the same potential to get the most out of their camp experience. Our leadership addresses all incidents of bullying seriously and trains staff to promote communication with their staff and their campers so both staff and campers will be comfortable alerting us to any problems during their camp experience and between camp sessions. Every person has the right to respect and to have the best possible experience at camp. By working together as a team to identify and manage bullying, we can help ensure that all campers and staff have a great summer at Camp RoCA.

Special Needs Information
Camp RoCA tries to accommodate all interested children.  However, there are a large number of transitions and sensory changes throughout the day.  Children are expected to be able to follow all directions, rules and expectations independently.  Children must participate well with others and follow safety rules without adult prompts.

For certain special needs, our camp is wonderful; for others it puts the child and staff in uncomfortable and unsafe situations.  We are responsible for the safety and well-being of all the campers and do not offer one-on-one supervision.  Please contact Antonia at 845-358-0877, ext. 18 or antonia@rocklandartcenter.org to discuss your child’s particular needs.  If possible, please discuss any school service plans applicable to your child.

Medical Conditions and Allergies
Camp RoCA has an on-site Medical Director, who is certified in CPR and First Aid.  The Camp needs to have all medical information on-site for campers, including immunization history and allergy information. No camper will be admitted to the Camp without this paperwork.  Additionally, any medications that campers may need during a camp day must be submitted to the Medical Director, along with supporting paperwork from the camper’s doctor.

The Camp is not peanut-free; however, there is a peanut-free section of the lunch area.  Should any parents wish to send in a birthday treat, please send in something store bought that lists the ingredients.  For more information about allergies within camp groups, please contact Antonia at 845-358-0877, ext. 18 before you send in a treat for the group.
